SARINA SPELLING BEE
Do you enjoy correcting your teacher’s spelling?  Come and join us for the numeracy and literacy week spelling bee and become the ‘SpellMaster”.


CHALKBOARD POETRY
Come and express yourself with chalk and words, all over the school.
 
CUPCAKES WAR
Numeracy and literacy week ….. This means war.  Cupcakes war will be coming to Sarina.  Delicious ratios available for all. 
 
MULTIPLICATION SHOOTOUT
Test your ‘Quick-draw’ skills against each other in the inaugural Multiplication Shootout.  


POETRY
I invite you – no, I challenge you – to put pen to paper (or fingers to the keyboard) and write a poem on any topic of interest to you.
 
READING CHALLENGE
Do you love to read? Would you like to compete with your friends and win awesome prizes? If so, then we have the challenge for you. In celebration of the Sarina State High School Literacy Week 2017, we are happy to announce the start of the Reading Challenge. 
 
APP CHALLENGE
Come and hang out on beanbags on the turfed area between building 1 & 2 at lunch time during literacy and numeracy week! Test your literacy and numeracy skills on different iPad games. Prizes to be won for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for years 7, 8 and 9.
 
NUMBERS  
Your task is, using only the four basic operators and six randomly chosen numbers to make an allocated three digit random number.  The challenge – to do it quicker than the mathematics teachers.


CREATE A NEW BOOK COVER
Create a brand new book cover for their favourite read as well as having the opportunity to review their favourite books. All entries are to be emailed or handed to Ms Lutz. 
 
FAVOURITE READ
Teachers are also encouraged to submit a brief review of their favourite ‘read’ – novel, poem, magazine, text book – and submit to Mrs Denney.
 
CATCH-A –READER
We will be on the lookout for students reading around the school and ‘catching’ them in a photograph. Teachers are also invited to be involved in this – teachers can email their photos to Mrs Denney or arrange a photo sitting session. 


GOOD READS
We will be creating a ‘Good Reads’ list in the library where staff and students are encourage to add their favourite novel / authors. We will also be displaying any of these novels that are currently in our school library.  
 
SIX WORD STORIES
Students will be creating ‘Six Word Stories’ in class. For example, Romeo and Juliet could be transformed in to a Six Word story in the following example – Romeo Juliet Family Feud Love Death.
