The Rugby League Development Program at Sarina State High
School is designed to ensure that the young men and women who are members of
it, leave school as respectful, reliable and honest young men and women. We
work towards this everyday by using Rugby League as our pathway to connect with
each student.
Emphasis is placed on student wellbeing, skill development,
engagement, discipline, integrity, honesty, reliability, team work and work
ethic. We believe that such attributes can be learned and we endeavour to
provide a suitable environment and staff support to ensure all students have
the opportunity to practice all attributes throughout their schooling and
beyond.
The Rugby League Academy offers students a unique
opportunity to study Rugby League as a physical subject whilst continuing their
study in curriculum approved theoretical content. The program is structured to
develop the student’s Rugby league skills as well as monitor their academic and
industry achievement. The program is also designed to focus on skill acquisition,
match awareness and Rugby League specific conditioning to produce holistic
footballers.
Students will also have the opportunity to take part in a
variety of competitions that give them access to district, regional and state
selection processes.
