Bring Your Own Device Program

PublishingPageContent

Our school has invested in robust infrastructure that allows us to provide wireless connectivity to students on a range of portable devices to support their learning through a BRING YOUR OWN DEVICE (BYOD) program.

After extensive research and consultation a BYO iPad program is offered to all students in Year 7, 8 and 9 and a BYO Laptop program is offered to all students in Year 10, 11 and 12 .

It is important that the devices brought by students are suitable for use at school. The BYOD booklet outlining minimum specifications, Q&A and types of devices suitable for use in the school environment will be issued to all students as well as on the school website. Please be aware that some older devices will not work on the schools 5 GHz wireless network.

It is an expectation that all students will have their iPad/Laptop ready with installed apps/software for the beginning of the school year.

We recognise that just like uniforms, supplies, and extra-curricular activities, a laptop or iPad for students represents a significant investment for families. With this in mind we have a limited number of day hire devices that can be signed out from the IT room.

Day Hire Program

A limited number of school owned laptops are available on a "first in" basis for Year 7-12 students to borrow each day if they have an issue with their own BYO device or while the student's BYO device is being repaired or replaced. There is no charge for this program.

Year 7-12 students needing to borrow a "day hire" laptop can do so from the IT room near the tuckshop eating area/behind the lockers at the following times:

  • 8.15 am to 8.45 am (before school)
  • during morning tea and lunch breaks

These laptops must not be taken home, and must be returned after the end of the student's final lesson each day.

Students will be advised through daily notices and by email when the daily program commences, which is usually from Week 2 in Term 1.
