Last month year 12 student Paige Briggs attended Heroes in Health 2022, a joint collaboration between JCU: James Cook University, Australia and the Mater Hospital.
Over the two-day program students visited the operating theatre and maternity ward, learned about hand hygiene and removal of staples, checked out blood pressure and blood sugar levels and discovered more about airway management. They toured the hospital, found out how to educate patients on medication management and helped their fellow students to get up off the ground!
They also heard from professionals including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, sports and exercise scientists and pharmacists about their profession in the healthcare industry and their career journeys so far.
Well done Paige for applying to take part in this program and for being selected… what an amazing experience!
